Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules for using BetterCal. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.

Acceptance

By signing in to BetterCal or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use BetterCal.

Accounts

You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

You can request deletion of your account at any time. See Delete account for how that process works.

The service

BetterCal helps you log meals and estimate nutrition by typing or speaking. Features may change as we improve the product. We may update, pause, or discontinue parts of the service with reasonable notice when practical.

Not medical advice

BetterCal is a consumer wellness and logging tool. It is not medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or dietary advice from a licensed professional. Nutrition estimates and insights are informational only. Talk to a qualified clinician before making health decisions, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or follow a prescribed diet.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse BetterCal. That includes attempting to disrupt the service, abuse AI or logging features with spam or automated attacks, access another user’s data, reverse engineer the app except where allowed by law, or use BetterCal for unlawful purposes.

AI estimates

Meal parsing and related features may use automated systems, including third-party AI providers. Results can be incomplete or wrong. You should review and correct logs when needed. We do not guarantee calorie or macro accuracy.

Intellectual property

BetterCal, including its name, branding, design, and software, belongs to us or our licensors. You retain ownership of the content you submit (such as meal descriptions). You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate and improve the service.

Disclaimers

BetterCal is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BetterCal and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to BetterCal will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim or (b) fifty US dollars (or local equivalent), except where liability cannot be limited by law.

Termination

You may stop using BetterCal and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create risk for other users or the service, or if we are required to do so by law. After deletion completes, your right to use the service ends.

Changes

We may update these terms as BetterCal evolves. We will update the date at the top of this page and provide additional notice when a change is material. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
